Tucker’s Adoption Anniversary 2021

A few days ago, we celebrated Tucker’s adoption anniversary – it’s been nine years since he chose us to be a part of his pack. Nine years. Time flies. So many fun adventures, so many unforgettable memories.

Since Tucker has come to live with us, we’ve gone for countless walks together. We’ve explored new trails to hike. We’ve spent afternoons swimming and evenings playing fetch.

Over the years, Tucker kept me company while I studied. He’s attended online conferences and meetings with me. He even participated in Virtual Book Club.

He’s always made an effort to ensure that, even if the alarm clock fails on Saturdays and Sundays, Chris and I get to enjoy our usual wake-up time. And he’s taught us not to leave irresistibly delicious food on the kitchen counter, the dining table, the coffee table, or anywhere else within his reach. Compliments to the chef, I guess.

With Chris’s help, Tucker has also built and maintained a repertoire of impressive tricks that he loves to show off in front of guests – usually the highlight of any get-together. If you’re a dog person, anyway.

In other words, Tucker – with his cool-canine attitude – has made our house a home (Gunner has, too, but I’ll save his fun memories for his adoption anniversary post).

Wondering how we celebrated Tucker’s almost-decade with us? You’re in luck! I took pictures. And then I even created some Canva graphics. Because… if I’m going to write a blog post about my dog’s adoption anniversary, I may as well go the extra mile and make his photos shine, right?

On Tucker’s anniversary, he and Gunner enjoyed some homemade food (yes, my book collection includes a cookbook with recipes for dog-appropriate meals), followed by a whipped-cream dessert.

As you can see, Tucker was slightly impatient and even looked a bit annoyed with me for taking pictures first. 😂

He just couldn’t wait to indulge.

Yes, that’s rice (from dinner) on his nose.

Gunner was there, too. 🤣

Because I didn’t take too many photos on Tucker’s actual anniversary, we decided to continue our celebrations this weekend – much to the dogs’ delight. And this time, I got some snapshots of the canines digging into their delectable treats. Enjoy!

Do you celebrate your dog’s adoption anniversary? If so, how? Let me know in the comments below!
