Vanessa and Her Crew
Last week, I stopped by the shelter to meet some of the then-current canine residents there and learn about their unique personalities. I made the acquaintance of absolutely adorable Vanessa and her crew as they were enjoying a warm spring day in the play yards and on the trails. Curious how my photo session with these stand-out-from-the-crowd canines went? Then keep on reading. 🙂
Brewster
With his happiness-exuding smile and silly head tilt, charming Brewster dazzled the camera and infused the day with a bit of feel-good flair.

Vanessa
Calm and shy Vanessa rocked her fashionable, always-in-style black-and-white coat and let her adorably floppy ears do most of the talking. What really made her stand out though was her affectionate nature: When I sat down, Vanessa slowly walked toward me and snuggled up against me, charming me into giving her a coveted ear and back massage.

Aspen
Sporting a hippo-like appearance and a mood-boosting smile, Aspen paraded around the play yard and the shelter grounds with a kind of authority-exuding confidence that could lead humans and canines alike to believe she runs the place. Fitting with the theme, I was told Aspen’s repertoire of signature looks includes a slightly judgmental side-eye that completes her adorably sassy attitude.

Demi & Gem
This bonded pair showed off their eye-catching floppy ears and colorful coats in the shelter’s play yards and quickly drew in a small crowd of admirers aka volunteers swept off their feet by the canines’ sweet personalities.

As of the time of this writing, all of these dogs have found adopters or rescues, except for Vanessa, and I just can’t help but wonder why she hasn’t scored her forever home yet. Her pawfect human is out there, right?
