An Adoption Event Story – Starring Blair, Betty, and Brandi

Yesterday I got to meet three charming shelter dogs: Blair, Betty, and Brandi. Determined to finally find their forever homes, they had decided to participate in an off-site adoption event as part of National Adoption Week – and I stopped by their adoption trailer at PetSmart to make their acquaintance and get to know their fun personalities.

Blair

I spotted Blair first. She was sporting her signature tan coat with head-turning honey-colored highlights and white accents and was showing off her affectionate and playful personality with a fellow volunteer.

If the shelter dogs ever threw a party, I imagine Blair would be the cheerful, bubbly center of attention.

Betty

Next, I saw Betty with her eye-catching black coat and adorably floppy ears, patiently waiting for prospective adopters to notice her, so she could conquer their hearts with her sweet, friendly demeanor.

Brandi

Brandi was rocking her fashionable black-and-white coat and dazzling with her stunning eyes and her show-stopping accented paws while enjoying ear rubs and showing off her affectionate nature.

During our impromptu photo session, she also revealed that she’s a bit of a treat aficionada, kindly demanding to be generously compensated for her posing efforts with treats. Adorably sassy… and clever.

The Adoption

Shortly before the dogs got ready to head back to the shelter, Brandi managed to score her forever home – just in time for the end of National Adoption Week.

Brandi is heartworm-positive, but thanks to the local non-profit organization Parker County Pets Alive, her heartworm treatment is being sponsored.

Still Waiting

Blair and Betty weren’t among the lucky canines to be adopted yesterday, so they went back to their temporary residence at the Weatherford shelter, hoping their pawfect humans will soon come by their kennels and give them their coveted forever homes.

Back Home

After I left the adoption event and arrived at home, Tucker and Gunner greeted me with curiosity, questioning where I’d been all afternoon. Judging by the looks on their faces, I assume they knew I spent a bit of time with the shelter dogs. What do you think?

No worries – I made it up to Tucker and Gunner by treating them to a homemade dinner. 🙂
