Darby’s Winter-Themed Photo Session

A few weeks ago, I went to the animal shelter to have a fun-filled and winter-themed photo session with some adorable, charming canines. From scarves to bandanas, the four-leggers were sure to dazzle with their choice of seasonal attire.

Among them: German Shepherd Darby, who thought his coat was winter-y enough and decided to forgo the accessories.

Darby showed up to and handled his photo session like a pro – he gave me a quick hello (and the flattering impression that he was excited to meet me), strolled over to and sat in front of the photography backdrop (what a smart, good boy!), and posed like it was just another day at the office for him (with the help of a squeaky ball to keep his attention).

Here are a few of my favorite photos of him from our photo session:

And here is a little behind-the-scenes fun – when Darby decided to break character and jump toward the squeaky ball I was holding:

Fun fact: We actually took Darby’s pictures outside, on a Texas November day… aka summer to my German and Canadian friends.🤣 Here’s a sneak peek at the setting:

Did Darby, with his sweet and slightly sassy smile, manage to charm his way into your heart? Then you should know he’s still residing at the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter and waiting for his special someone. And when I say “special someone,” I really mean it. I am told that Darby is “rescue only” due to his tummy troubles, which turned out to be irritable bowel syndrome, and that he needs an experienced foster/adopter. He is also heartworm positive.

As you can see, Darby is a bit down on his luck right now – “irritable bowel syndrome” and “heartworm positive” don’t exactly draw a large crowd of prospective fosters or adopters. But Darby isn’t losing hope… after all, he knows that he just needs to find that ONE special someone who sees him for more than his diagnoses, that he just needs to reach that ONE rescue with that ONE foster able to take him into their home.
