Jimmy: Shelter Resident with Sassy Charm and Playful Personality
I glance at the clock on my computer screen. It’s Tuesday, 3:58 PM. Then it’s 4, and the shelter closes. I check the shelter dashboard. He’s still available for adoption, it tells me. Jimmy is safe. For now. Another day to network him. Another day of hope.
When shelters run out of space, dogs run out of time. And right now, as more and more dogs keep pouring in, the kennels at our local animal shelter are filling up quickly, landing several canines on the dreaded urgent list. Jimmy is one of them.

When I met Jimmy for the first time several weeks ago, I thought he would be adopted quickly, that people would see his stunning black-and-white coat, his adorable puppy look, and his sassy smile and rush to his kennel to take him to his forever home.
But when I went back to the shelter last weekend, there he was, now one of the longest residents, as cute as ever but without adoption interest. Determined to help him out and get him some social-media attention, I took lots of photos of him, several hundred, actually. Full disclosure: About half of them are blurry because Jimmy was following me around to get the treat that I was holding up in an attempt to get him to look at the camera…
Speaking of treats… Jimmy loves them. So much so that I think it’s safe to say he would make a great judge if there were ever a TV show about the search for the perfect dog treats. Or he could just have his own show… working title “Jimmy’s Trail – In Search of the Pawfect Treat.” A dog can dream, right?
If Jimmy sounds like your kind of dog, head to the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter and pay him a visit. Otherwise, please consider sharing his shelter collage, so he can reach his perfect family and find his forever home.
