Fall Friends Furever: Meet Some of the Shelter’s Latest Residents

Fall has officially arrived, and this Saturday started off quite appropriately with some light rain and a cool breeze. Hoodie weather is upon us, and I’m already looking forward to sipping hot chocolate on a cold morning, indulging in a bowl of potato soup on a rainy day, and taking in the crisp autumn air while walking the dogs.

Dogs – don’t they just make fall (and winter, spring, and summer) more fun? If you’re looking for a four-legger to accompany you through the season and beyond, the Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter has plenty of charming dogs to choose from. Whether you’re in search of a dedicated couch warmer, a loyal cuddler for lazy afternoons, or a motivational barker to get you on that early-morning walk – check out some of the dogs I photographed during my latest shelter visit and find your new pack member.

Scott and Max

Both are quite photogenic, energetic, and hungry for attention (and treats). Scott enjoyed his photo session, as one does when confident the camera loves him, while Max was just excited to show off his athletic side. Did I mention they’re both absolutely adorable?

Leonard and Baxter

The two chocolate labs have quite a few things in common: They both seem calm, easygoing and well-mannered. And let’s add silly to the list. You can see from Leonard’s photos why this applies to him. As for Baxter, his silly side came out between the snapshots: Clever as he is, he knows the command sit, but if he didn’t get his promised treat fast enough, he would just slide down to the floor and lie down instead. Understandable. After all, who has time to wait around for a treat?!

Roosevelt and Precious

With his unique eyes and standout look, Roosevelt is a real conversation starter and the perfect subject for some neighborly small talk.

Precious, living up to her name, is just that: precious. This sweet girl exudes a princess-like flair while also embracing her tomboy side.

Coco and Drake

They couldn’t be more different and yet they’re quite alike: Both enjoyed running around the yard, embracing their inner athletes, and showing off their wild sides with a touch of silliness.

  1. Wow … how to choose! Max’s ears kinda stole the show … but I’m still cuckoo for Coco puffs (sorry, couldn’t resist). That little short-legged prissy pants is just a sweetie! Great job capturing these dogs!
